Reclaimer flight and chain roller replacement
Reverse engineering and manufacturing documentation for replacement conveyor components, with mechanical fit checks before bulk production.
The brief
A mining client needed replacement flight and chain roller components for a chain conveyor. The client supplied the original parts as the basis for developing a cost-effective replacement option.
Design approach & deliverables
The components were reverse engineered using the supplied parts, OEM drawings and bearing catalogues to establish the geometry and bearing fit requirements. Detailed manufacturing drawings were prepared for the individual components, documenting the information required for remanufacture.
The result
The components were documented and manufactured within the required timeframe, providing a more cost-effective replacement option. The first batch was test-fitted to check the mechanical fit before proceeding with bulk manufacture.
