Conveyor assembly reverse engineering
Recreating a critical plant assembly when replacement drawings were unavailable and the original supply option was costly.
The brief
A heavily worn conveyor assembly at a plant was nearing the end of its service life. The plant had limited downtime, and the overseas replacement option was expensive.
Design approach & deliverables
Measured the assembly during a planned outage, captured reference photographs and drawings, then rebuilt the design for local manufacture. The issue package included fabrication details and an assembly drawing so components could be prepared ahead of installation.
The result
The client manufactured and trial-assembled the replacement in its workshop before the installation outage. This reduced fit-up uncertainty and provided a more economical replacement route.
